Each of these rifles were on their third barrel when they failed and almost all within a week of each other. If I were worried about an extractor going bad I would replace it as often as the barrel. How do I know this to be a fact you ask, because these were all in M40 (SOF Prototypes for the M24) sniper rifles that I was maintaining. I personally saw 12 of these extractors fail but that was after each had been used in the firing of over 24,000 rds. On a related note, there are many that disparage the Remington 700 extractor. I use standard Remington units all all my 700's and will continue to do so. I did hear the insiders discussing the problems they were having with owners adjusting triggers and the courts ruling that Remington was at fault because some Maroon could screw the things up making them unsafe. I have worked on all the old triggers (700, 40X, M24) and never had any problems with them as long as I followed their adjustment instructions. After the M24 was adopted by the US Army I spent a good bit of time over 4 years at Remington.
